Evil Stig
I never knew about this film. I got into the Gits because of Kurt Cobain believe it or not. I was hanging out at the bus stop by the Daily Olympian newspaper and the old Olympia community center, which was by Kurt's place at the time I think. Or maybe he'd moved by then, I don't remember. But I saw him on the street and he filled me in on them. I fell in love with their shows. Back then everybody still went to live shows. Not uncommon to just walk into a place and hope a good band was playing. So I checked out the Gits and started going to all their shows. I Met Mia Zapata maybe 4 or 5 times at shows. Really cool, friendly, down to earth chick. Still makes me sad to think of how she was killed. Anyway I went to the fundraiser concert the Gits did with Joan Jett and I can spot myself in the crowd. This was at the RCKNDY and I was in my usual spot in that venue. Right up front center stage where a hole in the stage gave me a hand hold and people couldn't push me from up front. I was right in front of Joan Jett's mic. I can still remember her perfume. Viva Zapata! Current Mood: A Little Sad | | Thursday, February 17th, 2011 | 3:33 am [raindropebykat]

Vet advice
A friend of mine is looking for a new vet somewhere in Olympia or close by. (She's not overly picky) The vet she has now has the best reviews she could find online but they aren't meeting her needs. If you have a vet you love please recommend them. Thank you. | | Tuesday, February 15th, 2011 | 11:09 pm [neil_klugman]

job market?
hi y'all i'm thinking about moving to olympia to establish state residency. i'm psyched about potentially slogging through wet weather, being an active member of varied communities, being able to bike places, etc etc-- the only thing deterring me is anecdotes from people that the job market in olympia is impossible to penetrate, especially to young student types like me. i need, at the very least, part-time work, but ideally something relatively dependable for (at least) a year. so, what's the deal? are part-time jobs or anything at all really that scarce? how do grown ups survive? thank you so much for any thoughts at all! | | Saturday, January 8th, 2011 | 9:52 pm [grx]

Veterinary Charity?
There's a cat that hangs around my complex. Her owners abandoned her when they got kicked out for not paying the pet deposit. ~_~ Lately her stomach has been getting really swollen and hard, and she seems to have a panicked tone to her mewing. We thought she was pregnant but apparently she's fixed. I don't have the money to take this cat to the vet. Anyone know of help for her? xposted to olywa Current Mood: sad | | Sunday, January 10th, 2010 | 2:52 pm [tericarper]

Hi! I'm looking for a free or cheap dog house. If you have one laying around you're not using it would really help me out if you could pass it along! My sister's allergies are driving her crazy and I just need something to keep my dog dry and comfy while I'm at school and he can't be in my room. He's about 15 pounds. Thanks! -Teri & Zeus x-posted. sorry. | | Sunday, October 18th, 2009 | 9:24 am [tericarper]

Hello, I am in need of a good GP in the Olympia area. I live in Laceyish but don't mind driving. I have widely accepted insurance, luckily, so that's not an issue. Wants: -Someone who will take the time to answer any general questions I have. -Someone who is a little loose with the prescription pad (not for painkillers or anything sketch like that, just someone who would be willing to fax a prescription for tamiflu to my pharmacy if I start feeling shitty, refill my birth control and tazorac...that sort of thing.) Do not want: -Anyone who practices naturopathy or complimentary & alternative medicine. Recommendations? | | Monday, September 28th, 2009 | 9:28 am [chaoscat]

We're Headed To The South Sound Well, we've got a rare south end show coming up! Most of the time it seems Civita is playing Seattle with the occasional Tacoma show. Just because there's more venues, not because we don't love Olympia. It is my home town after all! So all you southenders need to come come represent on September 18th at Le Voyeur! Who knows when we'll get down there again! | | Thursday, August 27th, 2009 | 11:04 am [boy_pastiche]

Michael's Meats & Seafood
A friend and I went to Michael's Meats and Seafood today for the first time. It's a new butcher shop, on Martin. WOW is all I can say. It's very fresh and clean in there. The selection is amazing. Like someting you'd find in big city. And, the prices are very competitive. I was lucky enough to speak with Michael himself. He's great! He's very knowledgeable. The first shop is in Aberdeen. He told me he brings the seafood in directly from the boats most (maybe every morning, I'm not sure)mornings. I didn' t buy any of the seafood, but it looked very fresh. He makes his own meatloaf mix, plus blends the sausage. Really, just go check it out for yourself. Unless of course you're a vegan or vegetarian, then stay away. :-) I have absolutly no ties to this place. I'm just excited about it. xposted because I want to tell as many people as I can The address is 7912 Martin Way East www.michaelsmeats.net Current Mood: happy | | Monday, July 6th, 2009 | 11:12 pm [chaoscat]

Olympia Arts Walk now charging performers, businesses... http://www.olympiawa.gov/~/media/Files/Parks/SpecialEvents/Arts%20Walk%20Registration.ashxSo when did Olympia start charging performers, artists, and businesses? We performed in April and did not get charged. The lady whose contact information is on the registration is on vacation according to her voicemail. This really bothers me, as I've _never_ heard of Arts Walk charging money. It's supposed to be a _free_ event for the public. I doubt we're going to be able to do a fire show like we did in April, because now it will cost us $10 PER performer, on top of our supply costs (upwards of $100 per show for fuel, tools, etc). My photos alone will be costing me around $75 just to get them printed up. (That's one day's worth of work for me before taxes.) I'm wondering what businesses downtown will be able to afford the $65 fee just to sponsor a performer or artist. :( | | Saturday, July 4th, 2009 | 5:05 pm [boy_pastiche]

Free shoes!
I need to get rid of a lot of shoes. Size 8 and 8.5 in women's. You would pick them up, but I am on a bus line (near the hospitals on Lilly Rd). There's athletic shoes, flip-flops, and dress shoes. Most of them are dirty or worn down, but they're FREE! Reply to this post if you're interested in taking a look. | | Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 | 6:50 pm [notasyouthink]

Looking for a roommate!
Hey everyone! One of my roommates told me on short notice that they will be leaving at the end of this month, and so I need to find a roommate for the 1st of July ASAP! This is awesome news for whoever needs a place, because it's a great house with perfect people in it :) Specs: The house is on Decatur St. on the Westside of Olympia, literally three blocks from Grocery Outlet, super close to downtown, and ONE BLOCK from the main bus route on Harrison with the 41 and 48 stopping every 15 minutes. PERFECT for a student. There are three rooms, a large room and two smaller rooms, you would be renting one of the smaller rooms. There are two females living in the large room and one female (me!) in the other. It is a very nice environment, very laid back. Smoking only outside, no pets. There is a ton of storage space, a garage, washer and dryer, internet, all that fun stuff. Rent is $375 a month and bills are split equally each month. I am waiving the deposit fee because it is such short notice, sort of as an incentive. We are very cool, respectful, laid back, intelligent people and would like to find someone similar, student or not. Thank you for looking! If you are interested or have questions call me (Claire) at 360-441-7068 or email tehclairemeister@gmail.com Current Mood: hopeful | | Sunday, June 7th, 2009 | 3:49 pm [amyakieran]

Gynecologist in Olympia, WA
Hi I'm looking for a gynecologist in the Olympia area. I'm having a few menstruation issues and am 23 years old. I'm looking for someone who is open to listen to the entire situation and be willing to work with me in the treatment plan (and someone open to alternative methods/herbs/that kind of stuff would be AMAZING!). I honestly have no preference for male or female just someone who isn't a complete meanie. I'm terrified as it is and if you can recommend someone who you've enjoyed working with, please pass their name along. you can email too malakairose at mac dot com. Thanks a bunch! | | Thursday, May 21st, 2009 | 9:10 pm [boy_pastiche]
